Sgurr Mor (Beinn Alligin)

My munro tick-list

munro is a term for Scottish hill or mountain that is higher than 914 meters (3000 ft). At the moment Scottish Mountaineering Club lists total of 282 munros and many people aiming to climb (bag) all of them. When bagging all of then, it takes you to different areas and landscapes that you might not visit otherwise. For me, munros are targets but the main thing is to enjoy variety of Scottish nature, wildlife and in the end – have a good day out.

Most of the hills and mountains can be walked all way to the top using easier routes but they also offer more challenging routes for mountaineers that are up for the challenge. Only Sgùrr Dearg (986 m / 3235 ft) in the Cuillin ridge cannot be walked and have to be reached by rock climbing. It’s 50 meters (150 ft) sharks fin shaped peak is called Inaccessible Pinnacle (or In Pin) for this reason. Route up to the In Pin isn’t hard to climb but it’s very exposed. This seems to be a headache for many non-climber munro baggers. Some of the hills have to be done while wild camping and scenery is totally different depending if it’s summer or winter.

Map

Here is a map that shows what munros I have climbed. It also shows some statistic based on the selection (all munros, climbed or non-climbed) and the map viewpoint like what is the average height of the munros in the view. Or how many meters in total (sum of height).
